DIRFIS - STENI

A picturesque mountain village of about 1,200 residents in central Evia at the foot of its highest mountain, Dirfi, at 1743m.

A walker’s and climber’s paradise and very popular destination at weekends for the Greeks to come and visit the chestnut forests which include plane and fir trees. 

There is a Venetian castle at Skouderi and a beautiful beach at Chiliadou on the coast to the north-east. 

Facilities:

Steni is a very well-known village and a place where Greeks love to go eat and walk at week-ends, particularly in the winter months.  If you enjoy sitting near a big open fire and are a meat eater then this is the locality to enjoy the local BBQ meat including the spicy sausages.  One can also obtain fish and vegetarian dishes and drink the local mountain tea.  Steni has a hotel and a number of cafes and shops.  Try some of the local honey which can be very different in taste depending on where the bees have been located.

How to get there:
A car is required to drive from Athens via the road bridges at Halkida which is 30 km distance
